that we exist in an unknown, immeasurable reality
and that neither being born nor dying are of themselves real.
When we lose a beloved or are grieving,
or are ourselves in failing health due to sickness or aging,
there comes a time when we must each face death.

This book grew out of the grief the author went through
when he lost his own beloved
and he hopes that his words will encourage
those who are facing questions of life and death now
by helping the reader to gain the awareness that we exist in a great unknown.
This awareness can give readers "the power to transcend a death".

It is the author's sincere hope that this book will bring innate healing
to those who have lost their beloveds,
who are facing death or who are simply looking for a way of life that suits them.
